Malfilé (meaning "poorly spun" in French) is an intentionally irregular yarn that produces a textured, artisanal-feeling fabric with depth and tactile interest that standard smooth fleece cannot replicate.

The piece is then treated with Stone Island's 'OLD' effect — a dyeing and subsequent fading process applied to the finished garment that creates a slightly worn, three-dimensional surface appearance.
